If you use the term “Holy War” in Utah, get ready to hear some smack talk.
The "Holy War" refers to the big rivalry match-up between the Brigham Young University and University of Utah football teams, and is not to be taken lightly. This year’s match-up was on Saturday, and since Traeger World HQ is based in the heart of Salt Lake City, we couldn’t help but get in on the action.
The Traeger team threw a giant tailgate/viewing party before the big game for friends and family of the company. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together for some laid-back fun as things were slowing down from a busy summer, and ahead of an even busier fall. Traeger even had a “spirit week” of sorts where employees had a desk decorating contest, and everyone received swag corresponding to which team they were rooting for each day leading up to the big game.
Saturday’s event was complete with specially installed “grass” in the main area for an on-field feel, and everyone was invited to bring a lawn chair to hang out, get their face painted, and, of course, load up on delicious Traeger-grilled food. Traeger employees know that if they’re coming to a company event, there will be no shortage of good food, and this event was no exception. The Traeger culinary team spared-no-snack and everyone stacked their plates with bacon jalapeño poppers, potato skins, tater tot skewers, and s’mores dip, all cooked, smoked, and grilled on the Traeger. Once kickoff finally arrived, all the guests either took a short drive to the game to watch it live, or took their seats on the “field” at Traeger HQ to watch it on the big screen.
Utah took the win this year during the game, but everyone’s already buzzing about next year’s match-up. What big rivalry games are your favorite teams facing this season? Share with us on our social channels using the hashtag #TraegerTailgate.
