We thought it would be epic to see a Traeger flying through the air in front of our insane mountain view while dangling from a crane. So we hosted a neighbor appreciation day for the Big D construction team next door and transported our new Traeger Pro 34 grills to their rooftop for a smokin’ hot lunch with a view.
The Big Idea
Traeger Headquarters is located in a hip, revitalized area of Salt Lake City. Every day we walk through a bit of a construction area on our street and look out our windows and up at the tall buildings surrounding us. One day, while spying on Big D's crane, we had a bright idea. What if we could land a Traeger grill on the neighboring rooftop and eat delicious wood-fired food while looking out over the valley?
We’ve seen the Big D construction crew hard at work for months on end, so we decided that it’s high time to host a neighbor appreciation day. To set our idea in motion, we spoke with the site manager, set the date, and arranged to have a Traeger grill delivered via crane to their 10-story rooftop. City views, fresh, air, hot lunch—it was bound to be memorable.
How to Get a Traeger from Point A to Point B
Bright and early on the morning of the Big D and Traeger lunch, they lowered their crane into our circular courtyard, strapped in our newest Traeger grill, and air lifted it to the top of their 10-story building. In case you’re in an urban setting and wonder how to get a mighty meat machine from point A to point B, all you need is a huge crane. No problem.
Lunch with a View
Our Traeger chefs smoked pork shoulder and made BBQ pulled pork sandwiches seasoned with delicious Traeger Pork & Poultry Shake and sauced with Traeger BBQ Sauce. We served the pork on the most delicious fresh buns from a local bakery and dished up grilled watermelon and chips on the side. We fed the 250 person Big D family in shifts. The project managers and foremen waited until everyone had been served before they partook. It’s amazing to know that there are that many people working on one specific building every day.
Warm Belly, Warm Heart
The employees were so pumped to have a delicious and hearty meal cooked and served up hot onsite. They checked out our wood-fired grill as they stood in line, so we decided to raffle off several Tailgater grills so that they could go home and share the Traeger flavor with their families. We had such a great time sharing a few of our favorite Traegered dishes with them and the smiles we caught were priceless. Now, we get friendly waves and nods from our neighbors every day. Caring has given us the opportunity to show our appreciation, but watching the crew get to enjoy a relaxing lunch makes us smile every time we see them or look out our windows at the beautiful building they are creating next door.
