Our newest Traeger Pro Team members are flexin’ their wood-fired skill. Josh and Sarah Bowmar are the ultimate power couple. This kickass husband and wife dream team are fitness and nutrition specialists, avid hunters, entrepreneurs and wood-fired pros. The pair’s impressive track record started in the classroom. Josh Bowmar received his degree in exercise physiology and Sarah received her undergrad degree and MBA in marketing.
After college, both garnered interest in bodybuilding. Athletically and physically inclined, both have participated in numerous fitness competitions. Josh, a two-time Arnold Classic Men’s Physique Overall Champion, Mr. Ohio Overall Champion, and an NPC National Bodybuilding Champion, to name a few. The two have been working side-by-side, subsequently creating a supplement company, an online coaching business and are committed to their passion for fitness and helping others around them achieve goals of their own.
When they aren’t competing on the big stage, Josh and Sarah find themselves in the quietest of places; the great outdoors. After Sarah’s first turkey harvest she was hooked and has since pursued hunting as a lifestyle. Their shared passion for hunting and natural conservation propels their continued desire to source and harvest their food from the land for field-to-Traeger eats where their healthy eating is enhanced with a little smoke ring. Naturally, their go-to hardwood is our Realtree Big Game that they use daily on their Pro 34. Food for them is a process. The hunt, the harvest, and the wood-fired preparation exemplifies their desire to do the best with everything they touch. The true passion and care for their food doesn’t just stop at the source, it ends with an all-natural Traeger wood-fire every time.
Tell us about your most memorable food experience?
Sarah and I both have the same one. It was Sarah’s first turkey. It was that moment I knew I was going to marry her someday. And for Sarah it the moment she ditched being a vegetarian and started eating meat. More specifically what she kills.
Who do you credit with helping you most in your career, any mentors or people you look up to?
Never letting failure be a stopping point, just a learning point. Sarah and I both are self employed and own 7 different companies now. All we did was figure out what everyone was buying in the fitness industry and we started selling those items and programs.
For beginner hunters or fitness competitors what’s the one bit of advice you would give?
For beginner hunters, always buy the best equipment you can afford. I’ve seen too many times when a new archer buys the cheapest bow and ends up quitting because they couldn’t hit anything. Truth was, they were good shots, it wasn’t even their fault, but you can only be as good as your equipment.
