Smoked Trout

The only thing better than catching trout is smoking them on your Traeger! We have put together an awesome trout brine that goes great with a couple hours of smoke from your Traeger. This is a great meal to cap off an amazing day on the river or lake. So grab some fresh trout and try out this phenomenal recipe.

Ingredients

  • 6-8 rainbow trout
  • 1 gallon water
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce

Preparation

Clean your fresh fish and butterfly them. Place them in the brine for 1hour. Start grill on smoke, lid open, for at least 5 minutes, then turn grill to 225 degrees. Take the fish out of the brine and pat dry. Place fish directly on grill grate for one and a half to two hours, depending on thickness of fish. Fish is done when it turns opaque and starts to flake. Serve hot or cold.
