When ready to cook, start the Traeger on Smoke with the lid open until a fire is established (4-5 minutes). Turn temperature to 425 degrees F and preheat, lid closed, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Remove the neck and giblets from the chicken. Pat chicken dry with paper towel. Put a light coating of the chicken rub over entire chicken, including inside cavity. Empty half of the beer can.
Place chicken on beer can by taking a chicken leg in each hand and sliding the bird onto the can. Carefully place chicken and beer can on the grill. Cook for approximately 60 minutes, or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees F internal temperature. Enjoy!
