Be sure you have enough power
I love the remote thermometer and have been using it for a couple of months maybe four or five times. The remote receiver started to glitch out and not give me the internal meat temp. I knew it was a remote issue as I still got the temps. on the monitor. I tried re syncing, restarting and was about to call Customer Service for a Warranty Claim when it occurred to me that it had the factory batteries in it. Well two new AAA Duracell's in both units and I was back in business. Remember that factory batteries are not meant to last a long time.

Remote probe thermometer
I have used this device for a couple of years, getting it before Traeger started having their name stamped upon it. I have been quite pleased with the performance and have only one concern: I use the protable Traeger, as I only prepare enough food for my wife and I and routing the probe wire through the cover it critical as the blast furnace-like heat surrounding the grill area is hot enough to destroy the wiring. I have repaired mine three times and just recently purchased another pair of probes. I am working on a heat shield to attach to the lid to protect the wires, and once I get that perfected, all will be well.

I really like my Traeger and the remote probe thermometer and would buy the same setup if I had it to do over. I just have never seen a product that I could not improve a little.

Q. Hello, how many meat probes are on this remote control unit, and how many can be monitored on the remote? It looks like there are two of them... Just wondering. Thank you! Scott

A. This unit has one meat probe and one probe for the internal temp of the grill. Both of which can be monitored from the remote device.

Q. How durable are the wires that are on the probes? Do they deteriorate because of the heat in the unit? And are they replaceable and at what cost? Thanks
Question
Saint Paul, Minnesota
A. It absolutely will hold up in the heat because that is what it is built for. If you do need replacements, you can call our customer service and they can see if it is covered under your warranty.

Q. Is there a way to replace just the probes? My BBQ temp probe is no longer working but the transmitter and receiver are fine. I verified this with somebody else's remote thermometer unit.
