The Tailgater is serious fun, wood-fired business. It's perfectly portable, and fires up full-fledged flavor on the fly. Get ready to grill everywhere.

The Process

  • Convection Process

An induction fan circulates rich, hardwood smoke throughout the cook chamber for even heat and epic flavor distribution.

  • Hopper

Load the hopper to the brim with 100% Hardwood for hours of smoking and grilling without reloading.

  • Auger

It fuels the fire, moving Hardwood from Hopper to Fire Pot—briskly for hot and fast, or gradually for low and slow cooking.

  • Firepot

A hot rod at the bottom of the Fire Pot ignites the Hardwood, keeping the fire going so you can relax and drink a cold one.

  • Energy Economy

Powered by a standard, household outlet, it uses 300 watts for the first four minutes and only 50 watts for the rest of the cook.

  • Shut Down Cycle

This sweet setting keeps the induction fan running for 10 minutes to lift residual ash from the fire pot and shuts off automatically.

The Best Grill Ever Made
We purchased the Traeger Tailgater this year (2016) for Super Bowl Sunday and have been in love every since. We started out simple with things like Pork Button, small Brisketsize, Pork Chops and Ribeyes. Each time we truly enjoyed the taste of each meal and the time in which each meal cooked. Recently I have taken it up a notch and have perfected Banana Bread and over the 4th of July weekend took on a 17 pound Packer Brisket and TRUE Kansas City Burnt Ends.(that is where we're from)
The Traeger Tailgater lives up to, and surpasses all our expectations.

An old navy friend called me up June 1st telling me about Traeger grills. I looked them up on the website after I got off the phone with him. Read the reviews and immediately purchased the Tailgater June 2nd and picked it up already assembled on the 3rd along with some mesquite and hickory pellets. Broke it in with a slab of St. Louis style ribs with the hickory. The ribs were moist and practically melted in my mouth. Next up 5 lb bag of chicken wings and mesquite. DELICIOUS!!! Next up was an inch thick porterhouse! YES INDEED! An absolutely awesome grillsmoker. The right size for my wife and I and I just about have been using it everyday. Got some burgers made up, a dijorino pizza waiting....All I can say is goodbye Kingsford!!!

Awesom Results
I got the small grill in November while on sale at Costco because I always wanted to try a wood pellet grill and had heard good things. I can't be happier from the results. My wife wants me to use it every weekend. I have smoked and grilled pulled pork, baby backs and briskets that my old smoker produced, but never as good. The family wants me to enter bbq competitions. I'm not ready for that, instead my next move will be to get a bigger Traeger grill. That will happen in 2017.

The only downside is the frequent visits from the Inlaws coming over for the food. Ha!

Q. This tailgater is really awesome but need in more portable design , it is possible to see in portable?
A. The Tailgater is an awesome grill, we do offer a tailgater kit that removes the legs and makes it possible to set the grill on the back of a tailgate, or a table. Another option is another grill we have called the "PTG". It is a smaller grill that is very portable. I recommend giving that a try.

Q. How is the tailgater powered? 12V DC?
Encinitas, California
A. The tailgater, along with all of our grills, run off of 120V AC. If you want to use it as DC you can use our power inverter.

Q. What is the height of the Tailgater when the legs are folded up? I want to see if it will fit in the bed of my Ram 3500 under my tonneau cover. Thanks...
