SET IT AND FORGET IT

Traeger grills take the labor-intensive element out achieving delicious wood-fired taste. Just set it and forget it, and let the Traeger do the rest.

The Process

  • Convection Process

An induction fan circulates rich, hardwood smoke throughout the cook chamber for even heat and epic flavor distribution.

  • Hopper

Load the hopper to the brim with 100% Hardwood for hours of smoking and grilling without reloading.

  • Auger

It fuels the fire, moving Hardwood from Hopper to Fire Pot—briskly for hot and fast, or gradually for low and slow cooking.

  • Firepot

A hot rod at the bottom of the Fire Pot ignites the Hardwood, keeping the fire going so you can relax and drink a cold one.

  • Energy Economy

Powered by a standard, household outlet, it uses 300 watts for the first four minutes and only 50 watts for the rest of the cook.

  • Shut Down Cycle

This sweet setting keeps the induction fan running for 10 minutes to lift residual ash from the fire pot and shuts off automatically.

Great
I just picked one of these up, cooked on it a few times. I like how small and portable it is. I don't think I'll own another grill/smoker that isn't a Traeger after buying this little guy. I like how easy it is to clean and use. Very user friendly, way better then the old charcoal/wood grill I have.

Never own anything else
I spent a lot of time looking at smokers and trying to figure out which one would work best for me. After seeing the Traeger demo at Home Depot, I was sold! Took me a while to finally pull the trigger but I did. Best thing I could have done. Very easy to set up and season. First cook was a full chicken and it was amazing. Juicy on the inside with the skin being crisp. Perfection. I then tried a NY Strip and I have to say it was better than some that I have got at restaurants. It is so easy to use and it takes the guess work out of smoking. Marinating some ribs right now to smoke this afternoon. Wish I didn't wait as long to get one. You will not be disappointed!!!

Hi altitude questions
We used our new Tailgater for the first time a couple of weeks ago, camping at 10K ft. altitude in the Colorado Rockies. Tried a couple of the Traeger recipies, but found that we had to roughly double the cooking times to get the meat done. I also tried increasing the specified temp setting by 50 degrees or so.
Is this normal for high altitude cooking?
The grill is very easy to use, but I wish more attention had been paid to cleaning it out afterword. It would be much more convenient if there were a hinged bottom door to dump out ash and drippings. The dripping pan didn't catch everything from roasting our pork butt. On a campout, it's inconvenient to have to use a canister vacuum to clean the ash.
Other than that, the build quality is very good. Just needs a little design tweaking for easier cleanup.

Q. Does the Tailgater have a hopper cleanout so I can change pellets?
Deano
San Ramon, California
A. This particular grill does not have a hopper clean out. To remove pellets from the hopper, use a cup or bowl until you reach the auger and then fill the hopper with desired flavor.
