Traeger grills take the labor-intensive element out achieving delicious wood-fired taste. Just set it and forget it, and let the Traeger do the rest.

The Process

  • Convection Process

An induction fan circulates rich, hardwood smoke throughout the cook chamber for even heat and epic flavor distribution.

  • Hopper

Load the hopper to the brim with 100% Hardwood for hours of smoking and grilling without reloading.

  • Auger

It fuels the fire, moving Hardwood from Hopper to Fire Pot—briskly for hot and fast, or gradually for low and slow cooking.

  • Firepot

A hot rod at the bottom of the Fire Pot ignites the Hardwood, keeping the fire going so you can relax and drink a cold one.

  • Energy Economy

Powered by a standard, household outlet, it uses 300 watts for the first four minutes and only 50 watts for the rest of the cook.

  • Shut Down Cycle

This sweet setting keeps the induction fan running for 10 minutes to lift residual ash from the fire pot and shuts off automatically.

The Tailgater is only small in size
Don't make light of this grill. The list the said it holds does not do it justice. I have had two whole pork shoulders on mine (18-20 lb) at a time multiple times and it came out fine. (See Diva Q's Peach Nectar Pulled Pork recipe.) I have done full Briskets many times. Three full racks of ribs at a time without the rib rack adder. Full Salmon Fillets. It feeds 20 people or so if you pick your recipe right. I do like my bigger one better at home but if I have to drag one somewhere this guy gets it done.

The Economics of this unit are extremely good. I used about 1/3 to1/2 bag of pellets on two whole pork shoulders 10-12 hours of smoke and cook time.

Just my thoughts.

I love the grill, I am having issues with the smoke mode, after a hour or two it will shut down and give a "LEr" code, I guess it's dropping to low of temp. So that stinks, also didn't receive my entire order, would have been nice to get an email stating your order is incomplete and other items will be shipped at a latter date. Have had my grill for about 3 weeks, just got another part of my order last week, still missing 2 items. Not sure when to expect it due to poor communications.

Best Smoker, Also Durable and Great Warranty!
If I could give this Smoker 6 Stars I would, here is why. I've had a Traegger Jr. Elite for almost 5 years, and is still going strong. About a year ago I wanted to get another smoker fir a second home. I decided to try something different and I baught a Rec Tec, what a mistake! In less than a year the rec tec broke down 3 times. First the thermometer, which in this type of smoker is essential. The second time the fan. The third time the ignitor rod went bad. After that I got fed up and after paying almost $600 for it I sold it on let go for $150. At least I got some money back to buy another Trragger. After 5 years the only thing I had to change was the drip pan, after so much heat, fat and scrubbing it it got thin, but that is to be expected. The most awesome thing was that after years of using it, when I called to order the drip pan, they sent me one for free! Now that qualityand service is worth every penny. The food is comes out incredible everytime with no surprises. So, I'm back at the site to buy another one!

Q. Since this is a smalller unit, can it smoke a full sized turkey? Brisket? Is there a guide somewhere for this?
Anaheim, California
A. You can fit a whole packer brisket on the Junior/Tailgater/Bronson but the clearance from the frat to the top of the grill is 7 inches, so if the bird is taller than 7 inches you will need a smaller bird or a bigger grill.

A. No, We don't have a video that shows folding the legs on a tailgater. It does take 2 people usually to fold the legs.
