Installation Nightmare
No where does the information tell you that on older (read ancient) Traegers you have to use a file to enlarge the opening. Traeger steel is tough so it took me awhile to enlarge it enough to mount the new controller.

That being said, I don't know how I survived with my original digital Controller. Last night I put on a three pound eye-of-the-round beef roast, inserted on of the thermometer probes and sat back enjoyed our company with an occasional check on the controller.

One Step Up.
I say One Step Up because smokin' with Traeger is already at its best. I love the probes on the Pro Controller, which gives you better control for keeping the temperature in the ball park. The only con I had, (And it's not really a con as it is an observation), is the replacement instructions.Getting the original panel out was not an easy task. There really has to be a better way, Connecting the new panel electrically wasn't so bad, but the remounting of the panel was a problem child from the word GO. Not having any tie wraps forced me to make a temporary fix so that I could try the new Pro Controller. After getting tie wraps and re-securing the wiring harness, remounting the controller for the last time , and giving my Traeger its fire up, I am definitely back with my grill.

Digital Pro Controller replacement for standard controller
The digital pro is an improvement over the controller that came with the Traeger that I bought last fall. The old controller frequently held the temperature 50 degrees or more below the set point. The digital pro still undershoots the set point but now it is more like 20 degrees low. It seems the tuning for these controls is not as aggressive as it could be. I see new grills in the stores with the digital pro. I wish it had been on the grill when I bought it. It would have been worth the extra $50.

Q. What is the accuracy of the two individual probes. You indicate the accuracy for the unit itself is plus or minus 15 degrees. I am assuming that is for the Grill's internal temperature. Are the probes more accurate than that?
Teri

A. The accuracy is speaking to what temp the grill will hold. The accuracy of the Remote probes, is going to be down to a degree. If you need accuracy to a 1/10 of a degree we recommend a hand held device that measures a bit more accurately.

Q. Does the new controller also come with the temperature probe for the cooking chamber as well? I need to replace my chamber probe and thinking it could be time for an overall upgrade. Thanks!

A. The RTD temperature sensor is not included with the controller. It is available online or by calling our customer service team.
