Summery Sangria with Traeger Grilled Fruit

The ultimate summer barbecue calls for the ultimate summer beverage. Let us introduce you Traeger's Sangria with Grilled Fruit. A sweet/tart drink with a beautiful hint of smoke from the grilled fruit is the perfect complement to anything you are serving up this summer. It is easy to make in advance so prepare a double batch for your next backyard BBQ or tailgating party. We've even included instructions for a virgin version of this grown-up drink that everybody will love, no matter how young (or old!).

Ingredients:
1 cup seedless red grapes
2 medium oranges, cut into 1/4 inch thick wheels
2 medium lemons, cut into 1/4 inch thick wheels
1/2 medium green apple, cored and cut into 1/4 inch thick slices
1/2 medium red apple, cored and cut into 1/4 inch thick slices
1 (750-milliliter) bottle chilled red wine (or 750-milliliter bottle grape juice for a virgin beverage)
1 cup brandy (or 1 cup 100% pomegranate juice, not cocktail)
1 cup orange liqueur, such as Cointreau (or 1 cup orange juice)
3/4 cup Simple Syrup (1 part sugar, 1 part water, heated to a simmer for 3-5 minutes and chilled)
1 (750-milliliter) bottle chilled dry sparkling wine (or 750-milliliter bottle sparkling white grape juice)
Ice

Preparation:
Start your Traeger on smoke for 4-5 minutes to establish fire. Turn the heat to high and close the lidm allowing the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes.

Place the grapes in a grill basket or on a grill sheet like FrogMats and cook for 6 minutes or until the grapes begin to burst. Grill the lemons, limes, apples and oranges for 6 minutes, turning once. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool completely.

In a large pitcher, combine the grilled fruit, wine (or grape juice), brandy (or pomegranate juice), orange liquer (or orange juice) and simple syrup. Chill for at least one hour, or up to six hours.

When ready to serve, gently stir the bottle of chilled sparkling wine (or sparkling grape juice) into the pitcher. Serve over ice and enjoy!
