Cold Smoker Fits on Pro 22

Despite the warning that the cold smoker does not fit on the Pro 22 unit, we made this work!

We removed the handle and the two shelf mounting screws located on the Pro 22 unit, covered the openings with gasket tape and the cold smoker unit mounted easily, with less than a 0.25" gap between the cold smoker unit and the Pro 22 unit.

One potential issue we see is that the grease bucket now comes through the draft vent of the cold smoker unit. This could cause a lot of smoke loss when not using the cold smoker and the bucket is attached. Not sure if this is an issue or not.

We have not tested the setup yet, but we are looking forward to a lot of smoked cheddar! :)

In the winter the cold smoker works awesome for cheese, eggs and cold smoking steaks to flame cook later.

Q. Does adding the cold smoker impact the use of the main Traeger unit when trying to maintain temperature for smoking meats for long periods?

A. The extra pellet use is extremely minimal. If you are using the grill at low settings such as Smoke, 180, 225, it will be unnoticeable.
