What a grill...
I keep going back and forth between different models and was in costco where they had this one, one of the barrel models and a newer smaller one. I went with this one for a couple of reasons. I really like the fact it sits higher. I didn't think it would make a difference but once you start to use it, you realize how lower to the ground my little tex was. Second, the grill space. I can do multiple packs of wings and give them enough spacing to get that crispy skin I so want from chicken. Third, I did the biscuit test with this grill. I had them on the main and upper rack and was impressed with the results. In my tex, I knew where the hot side was and dealt with it but with this one, I really don't have any hot/cold spots. Finally, it looks great on my deck. Nice job with this one.

It saved Christmas
Bought the Select Pro at a Road Show event at my local Costco. My original intent was to replace the small Traeger and also my trusty Char Broil propane grill. I started very small... some beer can chicken, pork butt, that sort of thing. Then Christmas came up.

Our home is cursed with a small kitchen, and only a single oven. My wife kept saying "Oh, my sister is bringing this, my sister is making that, etc."

I looked at her and said, "You remember we only have one oven, right?"

She looked at me and blinked.

Traeger to the rescue.

I pulled out my pail of alder pellets, whipped up a quick spice mixture, rubbed that under the skin of the turkey, then wiped the bird down with olive oil. On to the Traeger.

Also threw the ham on there... why not?

What came off of those grates was the best tasting turkey I have ever made. So juicy and flavorful, and the skin was perfectly crispy. My brother-in-law is still raving about it. Our niece's boyfriend probably would've eaten the entire hame by himself.

So, thanks to Traeger, Christmas was saved and that alone has given me the confidence to start taking some BBQ classes so I can get better and top last Christmas with something better.

As a bonus, I updated the control panel... can't wait to see how that works.
