C.J. a professional surfer from Satellite Beach, FL has surfed the waves from the age of six. He rode his way through the ranks, ultimately winning Rookie of the Year in 1999, a World Surfing Title in 2001, 4 Elite tour victories, and several other qualifying series wins by 2015. He is best known for his skills in big waves such as cloud break in Fiji and Teahupo'o in Tahiti.
Staying true to his faith and developing strong relationships with the surf community and others has always been a priority for him. He loves to use his Traeger to bring people together. He retired from professional surfing in December 2015 to spend time with his wife, Courtney, and 3 young daughters Genevieve, Mia, and Bowie. C.J. proudly co-owns the brand Salty Crew and is currently working on “eating and surfing [his] way around the world.” Stay tuned from more from C.J.

C.J.'s Favorite Recipes
Don’t settle for that sad boxed stuffing from the store. Go with fresh flavor instead. Start with cornbread, then sauté a pound of sausage and add both to a cast-iron skillet. Add in sautéed onion and celery as well as an herb mixture and combine with eggs and milk. Finally, cook at 325°F for about an hour.

Tell us about your most memorable day on the water.
Wow that's tough!! Now it's with my family at the beach. But just having a successful competitive career surfing on the tour for 17 years is something I'm proud of.
Who do you credit with helping you most in your career, any mentors or people you look up to?
God for giving me the gift to surf, my family and mainly my identical twin brother who I just wanted to be better than and that ultimately drove us to being successful.
For beginner surfers or fisherman what’s the one bit of advice you would give?
Enjoy being a cook. It's one of the best stages in learning. Hey, that why I love cooking and fishing for that matter.
