  • 1 Teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 Teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 Teaspoon salt

  • 2 Cup sugar

  • 1 Cup grapeseed oil

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 1/2 Cup buttermilk

  • 2 Teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 Ounce red food coloring

  • 1/2 Cup cold coffee

  • 1 Teaspoon apple cider vinegar

  • 5 Tablespoon butter, softened

  • 5 Ounce cream cheese, room temperature

  • 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 Cup powdered sugar

  • 1 Tablespoon milk, plus more as needed

    When ready to cook, set Traeger temperature to 325°F and preheat, lid closed for 15 minutes.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder and salt. Set aside.

    In a large bowl, combine sugar and vegetable oil. Mix in the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and red food coloring until combined. Stir in the coffee and vinegar.

    Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, a small amount at a time, mixing after each addition. Mix just until combined.

    Generously grease and flour two 9 inch round cake pans with shortening and flour. Pour the batter evenly into each pan.

    Place cake pans on grill grate and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

    Allow pans to cool on a cooling rack, until warm to the touch. Remove cakes from pans and allow to completely cool.

    To Make the Frosting: Beat the butter with the cream cheese in a bowl until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, then gradually add the powdered sugar, beating on low speed. The mixture will be slightly stiff.

    • 2 Cup powdered sugar

    Add 1 tablespoon of milk and beat on high speed, adding milk a teaspoon at a time as needed to achieve an icing with a spreadable consistency.
