Nail National Oyster Day with this recipe from Journey South. Start with a sautéed mixture of onion, bell peppers, garlic and lemon juice. Add in some Traeger Chicken Rub and white wine and let this sauce make those oysters sing.

Ingredients

  • 1 dozen OYSTERS
  • 2 ONIONS
  • 1 RED BELL PEPPER
  • 1 GREEN BELL PEPPER
  • 2 LEMONS
  • 3 tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
  • 5 tbsp HOT SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup WHITE WINE
  • 4 sticks BUTTER
  • ITALIAN BLEND CHEESE
  • 1 dozen OYSTERS
  • 2 ONIONS
  • 1 RED BELL PEPPER
  • 1 GREEN BELL PEPPER
  • 2 LEMONS
  • 3 BAY LEAVES
  • 3 tsp THYME
  • 5 tbsp GARLIC
  • 3 tbsp TRAEGER CHICKEN RUB
  • 5 tbsp OLIVE OIL
  • 3 tbsp WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
  • 5 tbsp HOT SAUCE
  • 1/4 cup WHITE WINE
  • 4 sticks BUTTER
  • ITALIAN BLEND CHEESE

Preparation

When ready to cook, start the Traeger according to grill instructions. Set the temperature to 450 degrees F and preheat, lid closed, for 10 to 15 minutes.

Pre-heat olive oil in cast iron pan over medium heat. Chop onion and bell peppers and place in pre-heated pan.

Juice lemons into sauté pan. Add thyme, bay leaves, garlic and mix in the Traeger Chicken Rub.

Sauté the vegetable mixture until onions are translucent and peppers have softened about 5-7 minutes .

Add the Worcestershire Sauce and hot sauce. Add white wine and 4 sticks of butter. Sauté for another 15 minutes.

While the sauce is simmering, clean and shuck the oysters leaving them in the bottom of the shell.

Place oysters on Traeger and top with the sauce. Cook for 5 minutes.

Top with Italian cheese and serve. Enjoy!
