This fire pit is the berries!
I was originally shopping for a cover for my Pro 22 when I happened upon this fire pit. It was a little pricy but after owning a Traeger grill I already knew that you get what you pay for. My family and I have had over 50 fires in it this year. We just use wood in it not the pellets. It seems to always produce the perfect fire. I assume because of the design, i.e. the logo cut out on three sides, the holes in the bottom and the stainless steel grate with the holes in it allowing for proper ventilation. The ash pan under it makes it perfect for having a fire on our deck. It comes with a grate to cook on but we haven't used that yet since we already have the wood pellet Pro 22 which we love. We also purchased the cover for it. Well worth it to protect your investment. I would highly recommend this fire pit.

Great fire pit but pricy
I've used it once, and it worked better than I thought it would. Started with a huge heap of pellets(hickory) and it lasted 2 1/2 hours. A little high on the price, but overall really good fire pit.

Sturdy but pricey
Well built, and beautiful. But you pay for it. I also purchased the cover to keep it from being beaten by the Vegas sun. The cover it tight and that makes it slow to put on. A negative, worse at the price charged. At this price I'm not sure that I wasn't better off just buying a $50 metal pit. Traeger only recommends burning their pellets, even when not cooking, resulting in each fire costing you $15 to $20. I'm searching for a hardwood non-glue bound heating pellet at a more reasonable price.

Q. when cooking with pellets, does it give your meat a nice smoky flavor? I like the smoke flavor of cooking over a wood fire, but have eaten things smoked in a traeger full size, and am wondering if the smoke flavor translates by using pellets. Thanks! -Shawna

A. The Fire pit is designed to work with pellets or logs and will produce a tasty Wood Fired taste if used to cook food.

Q. Its obvious to me this is a well built fire pit because its made by traeger and i see its practical use as a grill but with the mesh lid and traeger holed logos on the side. Is there a way to control temp if i wanted to cook a couple tri-tips or ribs at a lower temp for longer if i wanted to?

A. This is an open flame fire pit so it does not have any temp control other than applying more or less wood to the fire.

Q. How long will 15 pounds of pellets take to burn in the outdoor fire pit? Also, is it safe to use on a deck?
Nathan

A. About 6 pounds per hour and it's patio safe.
