$19.99

Shop Local

Convert most standard 5-gallon buckets into a convenient storage solution for Traeger hardwood pellet fuel and keep up to a 20-pound bag of pellets fresh. The pellet storage kit includes an airtight lid that’s weather resistant and will keep fuel dry. The lid’s easy-pour spout makes filling the hopper clean and simple and the pellet filter fits inside the bucket and strains sawdust to maintain a cleaner grill. Pair it with our Pellet Storage Metal Bucket and your pellets will be sitting pretty.

Having read a number of negative reviews about being able to get the storage lids on top of five gallon buckets, I was a little hesitant to purchase these lids and filters. However, I did end up purchasing three and I am glad I did. They are a great product.

A couple of things to note though. The lids are extremely tight fitting. And, as others have recommended, I do recommend the white, food grade five gallon buckets from Lowes. The lids will not go on without a lot of pressure and proper technique. I used a technique that allowed me to get the lids on in about 10-15 seconds without using ovens or microwaves. Just put the lid on the bucket, with the spout cover open, and start pressing on the lid with two hands. I was on my knees and I started pressing on the part of the bucket that was closest to me. As you do this around the bucket, you will end up with about 1-2 inches where the bucket is still outside the lid. At this point, lean over with your chest applying pressure on the lid and your two palms on the top of the lid where the bucket is still sticking out. Simultaneously, use your index and middle fingers on both hands to push the bucket under the lid, use your palms to push down on the lid and apply pressure with your chest. The lid will pop right on.

Also, since the five gallon buckets are tapered, the filter will not go all the way down into the bucket. Just force the filter as far into the bucket as you can making sure it goes down evenly by apply pressure with your hands at different points along the circumference of the filter. My filters went into the bucket far enough (about two thirds of the way to the bottom of the bucket) to allow a full 20 pound bag of Traeger wood pellets to fit.

I find this to be a very useful product.

We have two grills, one that we travel with in our RV. This was just what I was looking for to "contain" the pellets (when a bag tears during travel it's not a pretty picture)! Measure your buckets, all 5 gallon pails are not equal! Even with the correct sized pail it was a bit of a challenge to snap the lid on.

Great idea... very helpful once we were able to get it on a bucket. However even with both of us squeezing and pushing the lid would not go on a standard 5 gal bucket. We had to put the lid in the oven at low heat for 5-10 minutes to be able to fit it over the bucket, so far we haven't had to remove it but when it comes time to refill the bucket we will see how difficult it is to get off And back on again. For the price, it should come with a traeger bucket too..

Q. With the home depot bucket does the filter go all the way to the bottom?
BillB

A. The filter will go on the bottom of the bucket to capture and prevent any sawdust that will go into the hopper.

A. Orange buckets at Home depot do fits the easiest. Others you will need to force the tight fit.

Q. I'm interested in the new pellet storage lid and filter. How does the filter work? Does it go in the bottom of the bucket? If so, won't the dust come back out when I pour the pellets into the hopper?
Daniel
North Richland Hills, Texas
A. Yes, the sawdust falls to the bottom, making it harder for it to come out when pouring the pellets.

Q. Just how does this filter keep the sawdust from falling into the grill hopper? An online video or some better photos of assembled product in use would be much more helpful.
JamesBond007

A. The filter causes all the dust to settle at the bottom, making it much harder for it to get out.
