How to Replace a Power Brick

An AC adapter, also known as a plug pack, plug-in adapter, adapter block, power brick, power adapter, AC/DC adapter, or AC/DC converter, is a type of external power supply. They are used with electrical devices that require power but do not contain internal components to derive the required voltage and power.

On your Traeger, you will find the power brick where you plug in the power cord. The power brick is secured to your grill, so removing it will require you to disassemble your hopper.

Removal Steps

  1. Gently pull on the power cord to unplugging/removing it from the power brick.

  2. Remove the grate under the hopper.

    • Depending on your model, the screws holding the lower panel might be underneath the hopper or on the side.
  3. Remove the two screws on the U-shaped bracket that holds the power brick.

    • Note that the power brick will no longer be supported once this is removed and will fall out.
  4. Unplug the electrical connector at the top of the power brick and remove the power brick from the hopper.

  5. Connect electrical connector to new power brick and insert the power brick back into the metal holster.

  6. Place the U-bracket under the power brick, ensuring the legs U-bracket are outside of the power brick holster, and screw the U-bracket into place.

  7. Reinsert the grate below the hopper and tighten screws to secure it.
