White Castle style with a wild twist. Juicy grilled elk burger sliders topped with melted pepper jack cheese and caramelized onions make for a flavorful bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground elk
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 3 slices pepper jack cheese, cut into fourths
  • 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 lbs ground elk
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 3 slices pepper jack cheese, cut into fourths
  • 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

When ready to cook, start the Traeger grill on Smoke with the lid open until the fire is established (4 to 5 minutes). Set the temperature to 400 degrees and preheat, lid closed, for 10 to 15 minutes.

Combine onions, butter, olive oil, sugar and salt in a cast-iron skillet and place skillet in grill.

Cook for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally until onions are golden brown.

Combine ground elk, seasoned salt, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and form into 2-inch patties.

Place patties in grill and and cook 2 to 4 minutes per side.

Place pepper jack cheese on each patty and let melt.

If desired, slice dinner rolls in halves and place cut side on grill to lightly toast.

Serve slider topped with caramelized onions and Traeger BBQ sauce if desired. Enjoy!
