The amount food that this thing will produce is stunning. The WiFire is the most convenient feature that surprised me the most. Being able to adjust temps without touching the smoker is fantastic. Especially while prepping other foods inside. I own the Elite 34 and love it also, but the super smoke setting on this Timberline produces smoke rings for days on things like briskets, tenderloins and butts. It's definitely competition level and will be used for that as well as backyard entertaining. Awesome machine. Stop wondering and go out and get one. You won't be disappointed.

To start, I love this smoker! The WiFire app is great. You are able to go anywhere with your smart phone and still able to monitor your smoker. It has a ton of space to cook on. I never go smoke rings like this with my Masterbuilt. There are a couple observations that I have the you should know before you buy the Timberline. It will get up to 500 degrees to cook steaks on but it will no actually sear your steak. The solution I have for that is to put a cast iron pan or griddle on one side and sear them there after you cook to taste. The other thing that I have not come up with a solution for is the front shelf that barely holds my beer let alone a cookie sheet for prepping your food. That is the biggest issue I have. I think I might buy a 34 series shelf and modify it to work with the Timberline. I have yet to try and cook with it in the MN winter. I will update my review in the future.

It's hard to describe just how much fun this grill is to use. It absolutely dials in on your set temp. and the ability to deal with your temperature remotely is actually a lot more useful than I ever thought it would be. I already owned the Pro 22 and I thought it was a fantastic grill, but the Timberline is just a better grill on every level. If you take cooking seriously, just put on your big-boy-undies and buy yourself one, you'll not regret it.

Q. I purchased a 1300 recently. 1. I had ribs on the top shelf, when I pull the rack forward it fell out of the smoker. Your top self has a different design and poor design vs the middle and bottom grills. You have a safety issue! 2. The front shelf outside the grill is also poorly designed it should be wide enough to put baking trays on. Wider than the side shelf. I see several reviews complaining about that. 3. Why does the Super Smoke not function above 225? Seems like another short fall design. It takes 5-6 hours for ribs at that pace. I have two other smokers that only take 4.5 hours at max.

A. Dale, The top shelf is not designed to slide. We recommend not sliding the top shelf when there is food on it. The design of the front shelf was to allow for customers to be able to reach the back of the grill. Sorry about any inconvenience. Dale, when burning wood at higher temperatures, you produce less smoke. This is why super smoke mode is only available on 225 and lower. In regards to the cook time for ribs, If you want to decrease cook time, we would increase temp. We believe the best tasting ribs take 6 hours. Our 3-2-1 recipe calls for 6 hours of cook time.

Q. Looking to do an outdoor kitchen, which model should I buy that could be mounted in an outdoor kitchen and how would one go about mounting it?
Aaron Keener

A. We recommend leaving room for airflow beneath the hopper burner. We also recommend leaving space for maintenance on the grill.

Q. Bought a new timberline 1300 this summer, worked great all summer except the ignitor stick burnt out the first day. And am trying it for the first time in the winter and it does not work. The electronic control does not light up at all. It is -11C (12F) today. Should it be working or will the control not work when it's that cold? Mitch

Q. Will there be a folding front shelf for the timberline series? I have the elite now with this, and find it invaluable. Looks like this has a very small built in front shelf, but not enough to set down a tray of ribs or brisket on when transferring to the grill.

A. We do not currently have a folding front shelf that fits the Timberline model.
